How Viirtue is Helping Partner's With 10DLC Compliance

11/11/24 11:18 AM / by Viirtue, Inc.

As the December 1, 2024 deadline for 10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) registration nears, you’re likely already working to ensure compliance for your clients. If you haven’t yet completed the process, it’s critical to register with The Campaign Registry (TCR) as soon as possible. Without compliance, partners using SMS services risk having SMS traffic blocked and may face restrictions on new services.

At Viirtue, we’re committed to helping our partners navigate the registration process seamlessly and ensure their messaging remains compliant.

What is 10DLC?

10DLC, or 10-Digit Long Code, is a dedicated messaging system designed for businesses to send Application-to-Peer (A2P) SMS messages to customers through local 10-digit phone numbers. Unlike traditional long codes used for person-to-person communication, 10DLC numbers are optimized for business messaging, offering improved deliverability and compliance with industry standards.

Carriers require businesses to register their 10DLC numbers with The Campaign Registry (TCR) to ensure legitimate, non-spammy messaging and to help maintain message quality and trust. For companies using SMS for customer engagement, marketing, or notifications, becoming 10DLC compliant is essential to avoid potential blocking of messages by carriers and to ensure smooth, reliable communication with customers.

What Do I Need to Do to Become 10DLC Compliant?

While some compliance steps must be completed directly by partners, Viirtue’s dedicated support team is here to guide you. Whether you have questions about the 10DLC process or need expert advice, we’re ready to assist so you can achieve compliance quickly and confidently. These steps are as follows:

1. Register as a CSP (Campaign Service Provider)

The first step in achieving compliance is registering as a Campaign Service Provider (CSP) with The Campaign Registry (TCR). As an authorized partner, this allows you to manage the compliance process on behalf of your clients, ensuring they stay within regulatory guidelines.

2. Brand Registration

Each of your client companies utilizing SMS services must be registered as a "Brand" within the TCR system, and their verification needs to be completed. This step is mandatory for all companies sending A2P (Application-to-Peer) SMS/MMS messages.

3. Creating and Configuring Campaigns

For each brand, you’ll need to create a campaign that specifies the SMS use case (e.g., marketing, customer notifications). This involves:

  • Assigning a verified campaign to each SMS DID (direct inward dialing number)
  • Configuring the campaign based on the messaging needs of your clients
  • Providing a privacy policy and clear consent for data collection

These steps help ensure the messaging services your clients provide are both legal and transparent.

4. Submit Your Ticket to Viirtue to Monitor Your Campaign

Once you have completed steps 1-3, you can open a ticket with Viirtue support and include a list of all DID’s to be associated with the campaign. We will submit your campaigns to Bandwidth for approval.

If your campaign is approved, we will assign DID’s to the approved campaign. If it is not approved, we will notify white label partners and agent partners to correct the errors, and you will need to resubmit your campaign.
